A Career with Purpose
Throughout my two-decade career in business, tech, and marketing, I've had the privilege of helming roles and leading teams for several purpose-driven organizations and causes.
My journey has taken me from serving as a group executive director in a global communication agency's Singapore office to a regional director role at a Seattle-based tech multinational. I've been the vice president for a pan-Asian education group and led a United Nations program for cooperative social enterprises in Singapore. I was honored to be named among Singapore Business Review’s ‘40 under 40 notable Chief Marketing Officers’, while LinkedIn named me to the Power Profile list for marketing professionals in Singapore in 2017.
I was elected the 17th president of Singapore’s apex body for communication management professionals, became a founding member of its Presidents Circle, and oversaw a smooth leadership transition after emerging from the Covid-19 crisis. I was also privileged to serve as the chairman of the PAP Sengkang East Branch and the chairman of the Community Development & Welfare Fund in Sengkang East.
I currently serve as a member of the Board of Governors of the UOB-SMU Asian Enterprise Institute, the Singapore University of Social Science’s School of Humanities and Behavioural Science Industry Advisory Committee, as well as a Company of Good fellow for Singapore’s National Volunteers and Philanthropy Centre. These are some organizations whose values resonate deeply with mine and for whom I hope to make a difference.
I am a director at Temus, a young and fast-growing digital transformation services firm, headquartered in Singapore. When I joined the start-up, we had less than 100 people in our team. Today we’ve become a workforce of over 400, as committed as we were on Day One to empowering both organizations and individuals in the public and private sectors to leverage digital capabilities, shape their digital futures, and unlock immense societal and economic value for Singapore and beyond. In my expanded role, I am the business head of Temus’ acclaimed Step IT Up tech career conversion program, designed for Singaporean locals with no prior IT background. Concurrently, I lead the firm’s marketing, strategic communication, and public affairs functions.
A Lifelong Learning Journey
I take great pleasure in expanding my horizons, learning something new every day, and articulating my thoughts on a broad range of subjects, encompassing everything from geopolitics and current affairs to business and brand management, through the lens of history and our march towards a digital future. Whenever I’m pressed, some favorite authors that tend to come to mind include John Mearsheimer, Will Durant, Joseph Campbell, Clayton Christensen, Yuval Harari, to name a few.
I completed an Executive Program in Public Leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and earned two Master of Science degrees from UCD Smurfit, National University of Ireland in 2012 and the Singapore Management University in 2015, where I was one of two fortunate students in my cohort to be conferred a scholarship.
Earning my first degree through evening classes and a polytechnic diploma while putting myself through school, I hold steadfast belief in a meritocracy that fosters inclusive growth, a system that champions social mobility, and a society that values redemption and change.
